Key Stage 2 SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join on a temporary basis in a small rural school based in the Holme Valley area. In this role, you will provide essential support to a Year 5 child with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and assistance needed to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the class teacher to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to the child's specific needs.

Provide one-on-one support to the child during classroom activities, helping them stay focused and engaged in learning.

Assist with lesson preparation and the adaptation of materials to accommodate the student's learning style and abilities.

Support the child's socialisation with their class and friends fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Collaborate with the teacher and other professionals to monitor the child's progress and make adjustments to support strategies as needed.

Implement behaviour management strategies outlined in the child's plan, promoting positive behaviour and self-regulation skills.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).

Requirements to work with Stafflex:

  • Recent experience working with primary and/or secondary age children
  • QTS or equivalent
  • Flexible with effective behaviour management skills
  • Able to build strong working relationships with children and other members of staff
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained
  • All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy
  • You must have legal right to work in the UK
